Ecology and distribution

Biology : Herb 40-60 cm tall; corm 1,5-2 cm Ø; leaves on the flowering stem, 4-5, c. 1/3 as long as spike, firm-textured; stem unbranched; spike 2-7-flowered; flowers pale yellow to cream; tube 1,8-2,5 cm long; tepals unequal: the dorsal largest, usually 3-3,5 cm long; the lower 3 curving downward, 1,2-1,6x0,7-1 cm, the lowermost somewhat longer than the laterals; filaments c. 1,6 cm long, exserted 4-6 mm from the perianth tube.
Ecology : Boggy grassland and dambos; seasonally flooded valley grassland; 1000-1800 m alt.
  Related to G. dalenii, a taller plant with larger flowers. Also near G. melleri (the two often confused), G. balensis, G. oliganthus.
