Trop. Afr.
Biology : Herb solitary, unbranched, 50-70 cm tall; corm c. 1,5 cm Ø with pale reticulate fibers; leaf 1, basal, linear, to 7 mm wide; bract leaves 4-5, usually overlapping (or not); flowers blue to violet with pale yellow nectar guides; outer tepals 5,5-8 cm long.
Ecology : Woodland; grassland; generally > 1800 m alt. (1400-1800 m Zaire).
  Near M. verdickii, M. textilis.
