Ecology and distribution

Biology : Bulb ± globose, 0,8-2,5 cm Ø; scales loosely arranged without threads when torn; leaves 2-6, oblong to broadly lanceolate, 1,5-10x1,5-3 cm, fleshy, dull glaucous, purple below, venation obscure, smooth above; racemes 1-2, dense, oblong, 0,6-2-3,7 cm long, 12-20-flowered; scape 2-4 cm long; perianth stellate, green or bright mauve purple; tepals oblong, c. 3x1 mm, recurved, apex acute; capsule globose, 3-lobed.
Ecology : Montane grassland, in shallow soils overlying rock outcrops.
  Formerly placed within L. cooperi.
