Biology : Epiphytic herb with pendulous succulent unbranched grey subglabrous stems 0,5-2-3 m long,c. 1cmŘ, ascending at apex;internodes 1-2,5 cm long;[…]inflorescences appear on the naked stems(no leaves from november to february). Very distinctive.

Ecology : Evergreen submontane forest on tree trunks or branches 3-5 m from ground; with many other epiphytes (Orchidaceae, Melastomataceae, Araceae, Piperaceae, Myristicaceae e.g. Pycnanthus angolensis, ferns).
  600-1100 m alt. Known from only 5 localities. On the verge of extinction.Probably the most peculiar, and with D. Zanzibarica certainly the only epiphytic Dorstenia spp. in Africa.[…]
