Biology : Perennial with prostrate main stems to > 40 cm long, forming ascending procumbent or creeping branches 5-40 cm long.

Ecology : erect, fertile or sterile branches c.15-30 cm high. Saltbush on the drier landward sides of mangrove forest, covered by high seasonal tides, often associated with Sporobolus virginicus.
  India, Sri Lanka; Madagascar; Malaysia; Australia. ? Angola, ? Senegal.
