Biology : Glabrous perennial herb 0,2-1 m tall with a thickened, dark, woody rhizome sending out numerous fibrous rootlets and occasionally hypogeal stolons; stem fistular, strongly ridged and sulcate, with generally few, slender, ascending branches.
