Biology : Much branched shrub or tree, 1-15 m tall; bark grey, corky and much fissured; branchlets cylindrical or grooved, rarely angled, puberulous to somewhat densely yellowish villous, the oldest glabrescent and lenticellate.

Ecology : Open deciduous to semi-evergreen bushland; open grassland; quartz scree; coastal bushland; sandy thickets; forest; wooded savanna on laterite ± gravelly; sandy soil; Uapaca bush; 1-2200 m alt. Sensitive to fire

  Namibia, S. Africa, Botswana; Yemen. – Not in Djibouti (= Tarchonanthus camphoratus).
