Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Moderate to tall, solitary palm; stem to 9 m long or more, with leaves to 7 m long; leaflets to 170-180 on each side of rachis; inflorescences pendant, somewhat constraint and apparently not longer than a meter; fruits ovoid-ellipsoid, 5-7 cm long and 4 cm in diameter, covered by orange-yellowish to brown scales.
Ecology : Adapted to riparian conditions.
  Wild populations of this palm have been reported in the central and north-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
