Family : ARECACEAE
Protologue : Webbia 3: 279 (1910)
Information on the genus : Eremospatha

Status
Status for TA : accepted (present)

Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Stems 10-20 m long, more or less circular in cross-section; leaves to 1 m long; cirrus up to 40-50 cm; leaflets arranged in groups of 2 or 4; inflorescences, flowers and fruits unknown.
Ecology : This species has been reported growing in high forest.
The variability of this species has never been assessed. This species can be easily differentiated from all other Eremospatha by its leaf sheaths of more or less 1 cm in diameter, inconspicuous knees and clearly inequidistant leaflets.
It is critical to collect and thoroughly study the reproductive organs of this still imperfectly known species in order to better establish its morphologic and taxonomic identity.
