Ecology and distribution

Biology : Stems to 25 m long, circular in cross-section; leaves bifid at juvenile stage, when adult pinnate, up to 1.2 m long; cirrus 60 cm long; inflorescences up to 35 cm long; flowers born in close sub-distichous pairs; fruits oblong, 2.5-3 cm long and 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
Ecology : This species is found both in closed-canopy forest and in open areas (Sunderland, 2012). In West Africa this species has been reported in the riverine and swamp forest, apparently from lowlands to 1300 m.
  Eremospatha haullevilleana occurs in the lowland forest of the Congo Basin (Sunderland, 2012) and reported by Baker (2008) for Angola.
