Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Short or acaulescent palm; stem when present very short; leaves segmented, very large, ascending; leaflets (20-) 25-40, subopposite to alternate; fruits globose, 4-5 cm long and 3-3.5 cm in diameter.
Ecology : Lowland evergreen rainforest, ranging from swamp forest, periodically flooded forest to lower slopes on terra firma, persisting in secondary growth; it is present between 300 and 400 m.
