Biology : Annual herb, erect, 0,4-2 m high, simple or with many ascending or ascending, succulent, articulated, rather closely leafy
Ecology : Weed of cultivation, in flood plains or along rivers, ranging to grassland or dry lava hills or bushland; 610-1640 m alt. S. Africa (Transvaal); practically a pantropical weed; possibly originating in tropical Africa.
