Ecology : Weed of cultivation, in flood plains or along rivers, ranging to grassland or dry lava hills or bushland; 610-1640 m alt. S. Africa (Transvaal); practically a pantropical weed; possibly originating in tropical Africa.
Biol./Eco : Herb; Dry, Subarid; Anthropic, Freshwater Wetland; distribution: Naturalised in Madagascar.
