Biology : Annual or perennial herb, often suffruticose, varying considerably to 1 cm ; axillary bifurcate tendrils to 10 cm long.

Ecology : As ground cover along wet lowland forest, clearings, especially near water or scrambling in thicker forest, otherwise on roadsides or in coastal bushland; weed of cultivation; drier rocky scrubland; wooded grassland; on the coast (Kenya); 3-1900 m alt.
