Biology : Epiphytic or lithophytic herb 6-50 cm tall; stems densely clustered, obscurely pseudobulbous at base; pseudobulbs ± cylindrical, curved, 2-6x0,5-1 cm; leaves 2-4, fleshy, linear, 5-17x0,5-2 cm, folded, V-shaped in cross-section, apex 2-lobed; inflorescence much longer than leaves, paniculate, 6-40 cm long, 50-200-flowered, with up to 8 branches each 5 cm long, axes pubescent; peduncle completely covered by imbricate papery sheaths; flowers small, bright yellow(-green); ± fleshy; bracts triangular, c. 1 mm long; pedicel and ovary c. 3 mm long; dorsal sepal ovate, c. 2x1 mm; laterals c. 3x2 mm; mentum (spur) rounded, 2 mm high; petals oblanceolate, 1-3x0,5 mm; lip clawed at base, 2-3x2,5-3,5 mm, 3-lobed near middle, with a cushion of hairs at junction of lobes; midlobe orbicular, 1,5x1,5 mm, longer than side lobes.
Ecology : Forest, evergreen forest, riverine forest; high-rainfall woodland; wooded savanna; dryish woodland; secondary forest; plantations; epiphyte on small and large trees, e.g. Ficus, Acacia; on rocks in riverine forest or in seasonally dry forest; “The most plentiful ephytic orchid of this region [Angola, Golungo Alto, bank of river Coango]; often found on strong branches of Adansonia” (Rendle, Cat. Afric. pl. Welwitsch 2/1: 7-8, 1899); 150-2400 m alt.
