Biology : Terrestrial slender herb 20-55 cm tall; roots tuberous, narrowly ellipsoid or fusiform; stem densely leafy; leaves to 16, lanceolate, acute, c. 4x1 cm; inflorescence densely 14-25-flowered, very narrow, 4-14 cm long; bracts short, to 1 cm long, ovate, acuminate; flowers small, pink or mauve; pedicel and ovary 5-8 mm long; sepals oblong-ovate, 4-6x1,5-2,5 mm; petals broadly obovate, 4,7-6x3-3,7 mm; lip ± reniform, 2,4-3,5x4-6 mm, boat-shaped, 3-lobed, mid-lobe tongue-like, shorter than laterals, with club-like callosities on upper surface, basal part saccate, without spur.
Ecology : Boggy grassland; humid savanna; damp marshy places, dambos, vlei, swamps; savanna country with scattered trees and gallery forest, along rivers and creeks; 500-2200 m alt.
