Biology : Terrestrial herb 9-46 cm tall; tubers ovoid-ellipsoid, 1-3,5x0,5-1,2 cm, woolly; basal leaf 1(-2), ovate-elliptic, 5-22x2-5,5 cm, glabrous, base clasping the stem; inflorescence to 5 cm long, dense, 1-11-flowered; rachis and ovary glandular hairy; flowers lilac, the centre yellow or white; pedicel and ovary 2,5-3,5 cm long; dorsal sepal ovate, 5-6x3-5 mm, laterals spreading, obliquely ovate, 6-7x2,5-3 mm; petals oblong, 5x2 mm; lip projecting forwards, 8-20x10-15 mm, equally 4-lobed (or 3-lobed), mid-lobe deeply divided, outer lobes broader than the inner; spur slender, pendent, 15-30 mm long.
Ecology : Grassland; among grass tufts overlying rock slabs; seepage slopes; damp cliffs; forest in humus soil; on mossy rocks; in light shade (of rocks); 0-2400 m alt.
