Biology : Epiphytic or lithophytic herb; pseudobulbs 0,6-10 cm apart, 2-leaved, elongate-ovoid, 0,7-4,5-0,4-1,3 cm, 4-angled, edges knobbly, greenish yellow flushed with purple; leaves ± lanceolate, 5-12x0,3-1,8 cm; inflorescence 7-23 cm long, erect; peduncle 5-19 cm long; rachis 1,5-10 cm long, 10-40-flowered; bracts 4,5-12x2,5-6,2 mm; flowers distichous, yellowish or greenish, suffused with purple, lip dark purple; sepals ovate-lanceolate, 4x1-2,5 mm, laterals curling back; petals linear, 1,5 mm long; lip linear, 3,5-5,8x0,5-1,5 mm, very fleshy, margins hairy.
Ecology : Forest; riverine forest; Brachystegia woodland, open grassland; sometimes on rocks; 900-1600 m alt.
  Flowers similar to those of B. cochleatum, but general appearance different as well as the ecology.
