Biology : Epiphytic or epilithic little herb with very thin rhizome; pseudobulbs 0,5-1 cm apart, 2-leaved, ovoid, 1(-2)x0,5-1,5 cm, wrinkled, purplish turning orange-red with age; leaves ± linear, 2-5x0,5-1,1 cm, coriaceous; inflorescence 5-16 cm long, to 20-flowered; peduncle 3,5-7 cm long; rachis 1,5-2 cm long; bracts papery, concave, 2-6x3,5 mm; flowers distichous, deep maroon purple; sepals ovate, 3-6x1,5-2,5 mm, fringed with hairs in upper half; petals linear, 1-1,5x0,5 mm; lip linear, 4x0,7 mm, projecting forwards, apical half fringed with hairs “moving in the breeze”.
Ecology : Brachystegia woodland, forming large clumps or mats on trunks and lower branches of trees; open grassland on rocks; growing with Cyrtorchis crassifolia; 1250-1900 m alt.
