Biology : Epiphytic herb; pseudobulbs 13-16 cm apart, 2-leaved, ellipsoid-ovoid, 3-4,5x0,7-1 cm, sharply 4-angled; leaves oblong-lanceolate, 4,5-6,5x1,5-2,3 cm; inflorescence 8,5-14,5 cm long, 12-30-flowered; peduncle 3,5-5 cm long; rachis slightly swollen and flattened, 4-10 cm long, 4-angled, flowers arising from 2 concave sides, edges sharp, entire; bracts triangular, 5x3 mm; flowers recurved, hardly open, red; sepals triangular, 6x2 mm, keeled outside; petals linear-lanceolate, 2,8x0,3 mm; lip slightly recurved in basal half, elliptic, 2x1,5 mm, with large lateral lobes near base.
Ecology : Gallery forest; c. 1400 m alt.
  Vermeulen (1987: 143) refers to the type specimen, Christiaensen 2458 (BR) that consists of a sterile plant and 2 detached flowers: “It is most probable but not entirely sure that these parts belong together”.
