Robust epiphytic herb; stem usually short but can reach 20 cm length (old plants); roots stout, c. 7 mm Ø, very long; leaves 3-8(-20), distichous, dense, obovate, 6-20-30x2-8 cm, leathery to fleshy, dark green, apex unequally lobed, smaller lobe often absent, margins undulate; inflorescences pendent, 30-45 cm long, to 20-flowered; pedicel and ovary 2-3 cm long; flowers to 7 cm Ø, in 2 rows, white, tinged salmon-pink, scented; tepals oblanceolate, 1-2,8x0,7-0,8 cm; lip very wide in apical half and with 2 prominent crests on upper surface at mouth of spur; spur 13-24 cm long, pinkish, with several corkscrew-like twists below middle. |
