Biology : Epiphytic herb with woody stem to 3 cm long; roots numerous, glabrous, flexuous; leaves 2-8, linear-oblanceolate to elliptic-oblanceolate, 3,5-12x1-2,5 cm, apex 2-lobed; inflorescences borne below leaves, horizontal or pendent, 10-30 cm long, 3-15-flowered, peduncle to 10 cm long; flowers white; tepals 1-1,8x0,4-0,7 cm; spur 2,5-4 cm long, and ovary tinged pink; lip broad, fan-shaped, 1-2x1-1,5 cm, apex rounded.
Ecology : On trees, shrubs and lianas in thicket; 200-1000 m alt.
  Report from montane forest to 1900 m in Rwanda is a misidentification for Rhipidoglossum arbonnieri (la Croix 2014a: 48)
  Presence in S Malawi uncertain [cf. Fl. Zambes. 11/2: 382, 1998]. Citation in Fl. Trop. Afr. from Mt Mulanje is Aerangis distincta.
