Trop. Afr.
Biology : Ephiphytic dwarf herb, insignificant, climbing by prominent numerous grey roots borne on the stems; these slender, 4-22 cm long, leafy; leaves few towards stem tip, needle-shaped (or Iris-like), 1,3-2x0,1 cm; inflorescences along stem, arising below roots, 0,8-1,4 cm long, 2-4-flowered; flowers bell-shaped, white, spur tips green; bracts c. 0,5 mm long; pedicel and ovary c. 2 mm long; sepals ovate, 2-3x1 mm; petals slightly smaller; lip concave, ovate, 3x2 mm, entire; spur conical, 1-2 mm long.
Ecology : Forest; Podocarpus forest; forest patches; on twigs and small branches, usually sunk in moss and lichen; on, e.g., Cussonia, Podocarpus; 1800-2250 m alt.
  “Grows surprisingly well in cultivation”. Easily overlooked. “Probably widespread in suitable forests in East Africa and should be looked for” (Hook. Ic. Pl. 37: pl. 3640, 1967, as S. angustifolia).
