Biology : Terrestrial herb 30-85 cm tall, glabrous; tubers ellipsoid, 1,5-3x2 cm; leaves cauline, 8-14, evenly spread up the stem, spreading, the largest ovate-lanceolate, 5-14x2-4 cm, decreasing in size up the stem; inflorescence 10-30 cm long, 15-30-flowered; flowers yellow- or pale green, sometimes fragrant; bracts 10-25 mm long; pedicel and ovary 10-20 mm long; dorsal sepal elliptic-ovate, concave, 4-8x3-6 mm; laterals similar, 5-9x2-4 mm, deflexed; petals 2-lobed from near base, lobes filiform-linear; upper lobe 4-8 mm long, erect, curved; lower lobe 6-14 mm long, upcurved; lip 3-lobed from near base, lobes linear-filiform, curved downwards; midlobe 5-10 mm long; side lobes 7-15 mm, pendent; spur pendent, 10-16 mm long, filiform.
Ecology : Grassland; Brachystegia and mixed woodlands; on rocky hillsides, among rocks; on sandy (granitic) soil; Hagenia abyssinica, Gnidia glauca woodland, between upland forest with Podocarpus latifolius, Olea capensis subsp. hochstetteri, Syzygium guineense subsp. afromontanum and Loudetia arundinacea grassland; 600-2100 m alt.
