Ecology and distribution

Biology : Terrestrial herb; tubers subterranean forming a chain; leaves 2-3, partly to fully developed at anthesis, erect, linear, ribbed, 12-60x0,2-2,5 cm; inflorescence 20-45 cm tall, densely 6-40-flowered; peduncle with several loose sheaths; flowers not opening wide, facing down, dull lime-green, lip marked with purple, faintly scented; bracts narrowly lanceolate ± as long as pedicel and ovary (c. 10 mm long); sepals lanceolate, acute, 10-15x5 mm; petals elliptic, obtuse, c. 12x5,5 mm; lip 10x10 mm, 3-lobed, with 2-3 broad crests in basal half, passing into a number of short stout papillae on basal part of mid-lobe; mid-lobe suborbicular, c. 4x5 mm; spur absent.
Ecology : In large populations in grassland; vlei margins; 1500-1650 m alt.
