Biology : Slender terrestrial herb 15-46 cm tall; tubers subterranean, elongate, c. 4x1,5 cm; leaves 3-5, the lowest 2 reduced to sheaths, the others narrowly linear, 2,5-8x0,3 cm, scarcely developed at anthesis; inflorescence c. 9 cm long, laxly 3-15-flowered; bracts lanceolate, c. 5x1,5 mm; pedicel and ovary 8-14 mm long; flowers held horizontally; sepals greenish-purple, semi-erect, narrowly lanceolate, 10-20x1-2 mm; petals lilac or pale pink with darker veins, oblong-linear, 8-16x1-2 mm, lying over the column; lip 9-16x5-7 mm, 3-lobed at middle; side lobes short, green with purple veins; mid-lobe ovate, 5-9x3-4 mm, pale lilac with purple veins, with some papillae, edges crenulate; spur cylindrical, 3-6 mm long, green, parallel to ovary.
Ecology : Brachystegia, miombo, mixed deciduous woodlands; coastal dry forest; often on rocky soils; 480-1650 m alt.
