Biology : Terrestrial slender herb 35-70 cm tall; pseudobulbs subterranean, conical, 1,7-3,5x1,5-2,3 cm, in a chain; leaves 7-8 in a fan, developing after anthesis, linear, 4-21x0,3-1 cm, basal ones sheathing; inflorescences 1-2, laxly few- to many-flowered; rachis 10-35 cm long; bracts linear, 4-10 mm long; flowers green or brownish green but apices of petals and lip white purple-striped; pedicel and ovary 12-18 mm long, horizontal; sepals fleshy, erect, linear-oblong, 12-20x1-2 mm; petals oblong to narrowly elliptic, 8-12x2-3 mm, tips recurved and lying over column; lip 8-11 mm long, 6-7,5 mm wide, 3-lobed; side lobes oblong; mid-lobe ovate, recurved, at least half as long as length of lip; callus of 2 basal ridges and several lines of long papillae on mid-lobe; spur cylindrical, 4-5 mm long; fruit pendent, c. 20 mm long.
Ecology : Brachystegia-Uapaca and miombo woodland, in sandy soil; open woodland on rocky ground; 250-1350 m alt.
