Biology : Terrestrial herb 40-60 cm tall; pseudobulbs at or above soil level, conical, 0,8-1,5x1-2 cm, close together on rhizome; leaves 3-4, erect, linear, 40-60x0,2-1 cm, folded; inflorescence slender, few- to c. 10-flowered; flowers not opening fully, semi-erect, green shaded with brown (sepals), white (petals, lip with purple veins and red-purle or white papillae); bracts linear, 5-20 mm long; pedicel and ovary 13-22 mm long; sepals linear, 12-17x3 mm, the laterals joined at base to column foot; petals oblong, 10-15x2,5-5 mm, lying over column; lip 15-17 mm long, 10-13 mm wide, 3-lobed; side lobes erect, elliptic; mid-lobe obovate, edges very undulate; callus of 3 short fleshy ridges in basal half, and 5-7 rows of papillae on mid-lobe; spur cylindrical, 3,5-5 mm long, parallel to ovary; fruit pendent, c. 24 mm long.
Ecology : Damp or swampy grassland; swamps; dambos; vlei; open woodland; 1050-2300 m alt.
