Biology : Terrestrial herb; tubers underground, rhizome-like, ± globose to cubical, white, c. 2 cm long; leaves 2, erect, folded, linear-lanceolate, 9-70x1,5-2,6 cm, ± glaucous, with yellow-green venation; inflorescence erect, 20-70 cm tall; peduncle covered with whitish papery sheaths; bracts lanceolate-acuminate, to 25x5 mm; flowers waxy, white to pale pink with a dark purple mid-lobe and papillae on lip; pedicel and ovary glabrous, 8-9 mm long; sepals oblong, 10-12x5 mm; petals similar; lip 7-9x7 mm, 3-lobed in middle; side lobes ± elliptic; mid-lobe subcircular, densely longly papillate; spur virtually lacking, < 1 mm long; lip lacking a column-foot.
Ecology : Grassland with scattered trees; rough grassland; wet meadows; 1650-2500 m alt.
