Biology : Terrestrial herb 14-27 cm tall; tubers 3-4, globular-ovoid, hairy, 1,5-2 cm long; leaves 2, cauline, alternate, ovate, the lower 3-5x2-3 cm, much larger than the upper, green often marbled above, dark purple beneath; inflorescence 1-3-flowered; flowers white or purple-pink with green spots; bracts leafy, ovate, 6-12x4-7 mm; ovary twisted, 15-20 cm long; dorsal sepal erect then bent over, lanceolate, 7-8 mm long, joined to petals to form an open hood c. 8 mm wide; lateral sepals free, obliquely ovate, 6-8x3-4,5 mm, each with a sac 2-3 mm long; petals falcate, clawed, pubescent, with green tubercles on upper half, obliquely ovate, 6-8x4-5 mm, outer margin crenulate; lip narrowly unguiculate, claw oblong 2 mm long, limb ovate c. 2 mm long; appendage erect, oblong, concave 1-2 mm long.
Ecology : Evergreen forest, on floor; 900-3050 m alt.
