Biology : Perennial herb; tubers 2, ovoid, to 1,3x0,8 cm; leaves 2, basal, ± reniform, 1-2,3x0,7-3,3 cm, pilose above; stem 9-32 cm tall, without sheaths, long-hairy; inflorescence 2-8 cm long, 2-12-flowered; flowers white and green (sepals), non-resupinate; bracts ovate, 1-4 mm long, pubescent; sepals ovate, 2-3x1,3 mm, long-ciliate; petals wedge-shaped, 3-6 mm long, 3-lobed in upper third, lobes papillose; lip similar, 2-5 mm long, but 5-7-lobed in upper half, lobes papillose; spur obscure, conical, straight, 2-3 mm long; ovary 3 mm long, pubescent.
Ecology : Well-drained grassland in rocky areas; in cracks of rocks; Brachystegia-Julbernardia woodland on wet banks in shade; in short grassy downland among boulders in gravelly soil; 1650-2600 m alt.
  Very variable in size (depending on the habitat).
