Biology : Epiphytic or lithophytic herb; stems hanging, to 3 m long, with roots along the stem; leaves distichous, numerous, oblong-elliptic, 6-18x2,5-5 cm, fleshy, surface slightly rugose; inflorescences opposite and below leaves, densely many-flowered; bracts closely imbricate, triangular-ovate, 4-8 mm long, orange-brown; flowers white with yellow lip, fleshy, very fragrant; sepals ovate, fleshy, 8-11x3-5 mm; petals oblong-ovate, 7-10x3-5 mm; lip boat-shaped, 7-10x7-10 mm, obscurely 3-lobed at apex, side lobes large and rounded, mid-lobe reduced, acute; spur 10 mm long, wide-mouthed, incurved, tip swollen.
Ecology : Rain-forest, evergreen and deciduous; dense forest; semi-deciduous forest with Celtis sp. and Sterculiaceae; forest fringes of inselbergs; old mangrove swamps; gallery forest; on tree trunks and branches up to 25 m above ground level, on Crudia harmsiana, Irvingia smithii, Dialium sp., Triplochiton sp., Chrysobalanus atacorensis; plantations; lithophyte in dense populations to 8 m2 (Stévart, 2003: 94); 0-1000 m alt. – Forming large clumps.
  Sometimes confused with C. christyanum.
