Biology : Epiphytic herb; pseudobulbs clustered, conical to pyramidal, to 5,5 cm Ø and tall, with 1-2 leaves on top; the new leaves appear first at the base of the old pseudobulb and as they mature the new pseudobulb forms below them; leaves caducous, elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, 10-30x3-7 cm, prominently rib-veined; inflorescences 1-2, pubescent, arising from the base of the pseudobulbs, to 20 cm long, laxly 1-3-flowered; flowers showy, 5-8 cm Ø, pale to dark pink; tepals thin-textured, oblong-elliptic-lanceolate, 1,7-3x0,5-0,9 cm, sepals broader than petals; lip 3-lobed, pink to bright purple, middle lobe hook-like, 0,8-1,2 cm long; side lobes green with brown dots.
Ecology : Evergreen forest, rain-forest, riverine forest; swampy areas; on big horizontal branches of large old trees, 2,5-25 m above ground; often in large colonies; 50-1100 m alt.
