Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree 5-15 m, but sometimes 20-30 m; with straight bole 30-60 cm ?at the base and 1 m in girth; bark deeply fissured with narrow triangular ridges bearing thick thorns; young branches sometimes spiny; flowering when leafless.
Ecology : Dry or lateritic ground; open woodland and wooded savanna; to 1000 m alt.
