Biology : Liane to 25 m, or tree 9-16 m tall, shrub or straggling tree; stipules large, to 4,5 cm long; leaves digitate; petiole to 22 cm long, 6 mm Ø, glabrous; leaflets 4-8, elliptic to ovate, to 28x12,5 cm, glabrous.

Ecology : Moist bamboo thickets; rain-forest; forest edges; sclerophyllous communities on lava plains; arborescent Ericaceae formations; riverine; secondary montane evergreen bushland; swampy forests; 1450-3500 m alt.
