Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Annual with slender tap-root, 15-100 cm tall; the smaller forms stems to 13 cm tall arising from a thick erect base; with large diverging from the stem at about 45°; stem and branches tetragonous.
Ecology : Open Brachystegia woodland or bush in sandy, gravelly or sandy-loamy places, generally among grass and often where water has lain; also in pockets of soil over rock; rocky thickety stream valley; 500-1820 m alt.
