Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Deciduous (for a short period) tree to 55(-60) m; bole long, straight, clean to 30 m high, 2 m Ø, 5-9 m in girth, with moderately developed blunt buttresses extending to 3-6 m height.

Ecology : Forest with Triplochiton scleroxylon; rain-forest with Heritiera utilis; Albizia gummifera forest; farm-bush; very common but very scattered in Ivory Coast fide Aubréville; fringing forest; 350-1830 m alt.
  Leaflets resemble those of Khaya anthotheca; they may also be confused with Lannea welwitschii.
