Biology : Tree, briefly deciduous 30-55-60 m; bole straight, cylindrical, buttressed to a height of 4 m, to 2,5 m Ø above the buttresses; crown wide-spreading, branches massive.

Ecology : Rain-forests; sometimes riverine forest; rarely occurs almost pure; 925-2220 m alt.
  Used for shade in coffee plantations.
