Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree 3-15-18 m, lacking buttresses and surface ribbon-like roots; bole usually solitary, to c. 50 cm Ø, frequently of poor form; bark rough, longitudinally fissured, greyish; leaves to 16 cm long, glabrous, drying yellowish green.

Ecology : Coastal bushland and thicket on coral; coastal scrub just above high-water mark, especially on sandy soil and coral rocks; mangroves; 1-20 m alt.
  Drift seeds.
  Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Andaman and Nicobar Isl., Indonesia, Australia, Fiji, Tonga.
