Biology : Deciduous tree 35-50 m; bole straight, cylindrical, to 1,5 m Ø, 3,5 m in girth, not buttressed at base, twisted near the top; branches stout, somewhat angled; bark thick, rough, (reddish) brown; slash red, streaked with white, exuding a fragrant resin.

Ecology : Terra firma high forest; rain-forest; half-deciduous forest; dry closed forest; 1050-1500 m alt. (Uganda).
  The figure in Akoegninou & al., Fl. analyt. Bénin: 314, 2006, is not Antrocaryon micraster !
