Ecology : Wooded grassland or woodland of various sorts: Brachystegia-Julbernardia, Combretum, Baikiaea, Acacia, etc.; scrub; sometimes common in savanna on most soils; marigot banks; hollows; edge of cultivation; stony hillside; etc..
  Hybrids with E. africana are known.
