Biology : Erect glabrous annual herb 30-70 cm tall; flowers yellow in condensed umbellate inflorescences with persistent spurred bracts.
Ecology : Swampy grassland, small swamp in low bush in valley on black clay, waste ground, roadsides; 1800-2450 m alt.
  Very close to S. sensitiva Ait. (S & SE Asia to Australia; introduced in Madagascar, S. Africa).
