Biology : Perennial robust herbaceous climber or trailer 1,8-10 m long; stems silky hairy when young, later glabrous.
Ecology : Beach sand and furthest edges of coastal bushland bordering high-tide mark; usually with Ipomoea pes-caprae; rarely found inland to any extent; 0-30 m alt.
  Tropics of both hemispheres; extending into the subtropics; one of the commonest and most characteristic sea-coast plants.
