Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Erect robust perennial herb to 1,5 m tall, with many branching virgate stems from a woody rootstock; stems herbaceous, pithy above; flower racemes shorter than leaf; flower yellow-greenish, streaked purple-bluish; pod ovate, compressed.
Ecology : Thickets, dry open woodland, on Kalahari sand, often on floodplains and river banks; c. 900-1150 m alt. - Amongst red sandstone rocks in the desert (Angola).
  Caprivi Strip, Namibia, Botswana, S. Africa.
