Biology : Perennial herb with scandent to procumbent stems rooting at the lower nodes and forming shoots 0,5-1 m or more long; stems subangular to cylindrical, usually densely spreading pilose and somewhat puberulent.

Ecology : Grassland at the edges of forests; roadsides; humid grounds; also runderal; grassland; sand at the edge of pool; sandstone; banded "tiger" vegetation; hardpan; small brook between rocks; ... 680(? and less)-2330 m alt.
  S. Africa.
  Has often been confused with D. hirtum.
