Biology : Delicate annual herb or plant with a stem woody at base, erect or scandent or semi-prostrate, to 0,6-1 m tall;

Ecology : Humid places; forest gallery; clayey soil, temporarily flooded; thicket and dry bushland on granite soils; often by rivers; mopane- and Brachystegia woodland, Kirkia-Adansonia-Combretum-Sterculia woodland; 800 (? and less)-1600 m alt.
  Cape Verde- and Annobon Isl.; Yemen (Kilian & al. in Willdenowia 34: 174-175, 2004).
  Probably of tropical American origin and near D. procumbens (Mill.) Hitchc. and D. tortuosum (tropical America). Not mapped.
