Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Spreading shrub to 3-4 m tall, with ± pendulous branches; stems reddish, striate, with upwardly directed soft white pilosity and stipular scars.
Ecology : Sandy beaches, usually just above the high-water mark.
  Madagascar, Réunion, Mauritius; Asia: Sri Lanka, S India, Burma, Indo-China, Malaysia, S China, S Taiwan, Okinawa-Australia-Pacific islands.
  Fruit segments dispersed by sea.
