Biology : Perennial plant with numerous erect, spreading or prostrate stems to 1,5 m tall from a strong taproot or woody roststock; stems much branched, sparsely to densely appressed or spreading hairy;
Ecology : Montane grassland, miombo woodland; often in steep rocky places; (1050)1450-2100 m alt.
  Very variable in habit, indumentum and soze, and also in details of leaves and flowers. But very distinctive and rarely confused.
  NE S. Africa, Swaziland.
