Biology : Erect herb or subshrub with many tufted stems, 10-30 cm long, from a woody rootstock, mostly appearing after burns; stems glabrous or with very sparse tubercular-based hairs.
Ecology : Steep grassy banks on stony soil; damp sandy pans; open forests with Brachystegia on lateritic hardpan covered by clay; 1200-2340 m alt.
