Biology : Annual herb, trailing or climbing, 30-70 cm long; stems glabrous or thinly pubescent; leaf rhachis terminating in a slender branched tendril; flowers (2-5) in pedunculate racemes, white, rose or pale blue; pod 6-10 mm, 1-2-seeded.

Ecology : Upland grassland, evergreen bushland, scrub, forest margins and glades, lava plains; rocky area with montane grassland and scattered low ericaceous scrub, low subshrubs and herbs in rock crevices (Sudan); 1700-3450 m alt. (2700-3450 m in Ethiopia).
