Biology : Shrub or tree, 3-20 m; trunk ±40 cm .
Ecology : Evergreen forest of closed mixed type, also riverine forest; 950- 1350 m alt. (E Africa); also evergreen thickets; 30-1050 m alt. (Fl. Zambes. area) – Fringing forest in savanna (Centr. Afric. Rep.) – Forest edges (Angola).
